# Project Settings

> Project-level actions reached from the Project menu — manage users, edit, clone, or delete a project.

The **Project** tab in the top-right of the [Project Dashboard](/user-guide/project/project-dashboard) header opens the project-level actions menu.

<Frame caption="Project menu open">
  <img src="https://mintcdn.com/real-timelca/L5q2mRvRVkE5w_vw/images/user-guide/Project%20menu.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=L5q2mRvRVkE5w_vw&q=85&s=263df34e0f7d377f2424915ad8a06d3e" alt="Project dropdown showing Manage Users, Edit Project, Clone Project, and Delete Project." width="3104" height="2024" data-path="images/user-guide/Project menu.png" />
</Frame>

The menu has four actions:

| Action             | What it does                                                        |
| ------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Manage Users** | Add or remove people and change their project role. |
| **Edit Project** | Re-open the project wizard with the current values prefilled. |
| **Clone Project** | Create a copy that starts from the current project's configuration. |
| **Delete Project** | Permanently delete the project after a typed confirmation. |

## Manage users

Choose **Manage Users** to open the **Manage users in *Project name*** modal.

<Frame caption="Manage users with the role dropdown open">
  <img src="https://mintcdn.com/real-timelca/L5q2mRvRVkE5w_vw/images/user-guide/Manage%20project%20users.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=L5q2mRvRVkE5w_vw&q=85&s=3c9842349714a0ba128f40ba8af7139b" alt="Manage users modal with Admins, Contributors, and Viewers columns and a role dropdown showing Admin, Contributor, Viewer." width="3104" height="2024" data-path="images/user-guide/Manage project users.png" />
</Frame>

The modal is split into three columns — **Admins**, **Contributors**, and **Viewers** — that show who currently holds each role on the project.

To invite someone:

1. Search the workspace user list with **Search and select a user**.
2. Pick a **Role** from the dropdown.
3. Click **Invite**.

The three roles map to clear permissions:

| Role | What they can do |
| --------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Admin** | Full access, including deletion rights. |
| **Contributor** | Can edit the project, but not delete it. |
| **Viewer** | Can inspect the dashboard and the mapping view, but cannot change anything. |

<Note>
  These are *project* roles. They are independent of the workspace-level role you set in [Account and User settings](/user-guide/account-and-user-settings#workspace-users).
</Note>

## Edit a project

<Frame caption="Edit Project highlighted in the Project menu">
  <img src="https://mintcdn.com/real-timelca/L5q2mRvRVkE5w_vw/images/user-guide/Project%20menu%20-%20Edit%20highlighted.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=L5q2mRvRVkE5w_vw&q=85&s=ce6fcf38fb57b1d7cb00d4a6f8cfb239" alt="Project menu with Edit Project hovered." width="3104" height="2024" data-path="images/user-guide/Project menu - Edit highlighted.png" />
</Frame>

Choose **Edit Project** to re-open the project wizard with every field prefilled from the current project. The wizard starts on the **Location** step and you can move freely between **Project Details**, **Building Details**, **Calculation Prerequisites**, **Reference Area**, and **Speckle Configuration** to change whatever you need.

<Frame caption="Edit Project — same wizard as Create, prefilled with the project's values">
  <img src="https://mintcdn.com/real-timelca/L5q2mRvRVkE5w_vw/images/user-guide/Edit%20project%20page.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=L5q2mRvRVkE5w_vw&q=85&s=2e63bd86ddce995a51268f9e72ce1631" alt="Edit page for NTI New Headquarter on the Location step, with the address and map prefilled." width="3104" height="2024" data-path="images/user-guide/Edit project page.png" />
</Frame>

The breadcrumb at the top of the page reads **Projects › *Project name* › Edit** so it is always clear that you are editing an existing project rather than creating a new one.

<Tip>
  All wizard steps and field-level help from [Create a new project](/user-guide/project/create-new-project) apply here too.
</Tip>

## Clone a project

<Frame caption="Clone Project highlighted in the Project menu">
  <img src="https://mintcdn.com/real-timelca/L5q2mRvRVkE5w_vw/images/user-guide/Project%20menu%20-%20Clone%20highlighted.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=L5q2mRvRVkE5w_vw&q=85&s=46fa230944f62c81d69d99bd39f85b7e" alt="Project menu with Clone Project hovered." width="3104" height="2024" data-path="images/user-guide/Project menu - Clone highlighted.png" />
</Frame>

**Clone Project** is the fastest way to start a new project that shares most of its configuration with an existing one — for example, when you want to compare two design variants of the same building.

<Frame caption="Clone Project — the orange banner reminds you which project is being cloned">
  <img src="https://mintcdn.com/real-timelca/L5q2mRvRVkE5w_vw/images/user-guide/Clone%20project%20page.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=L5q2mRvRVkE5w_vw&q=85&s=e1550c335717e963f12d43bf753d2761" alt="Clone Project page with an orange banner stating 'You are currently cloning NTI New Headquarter' on the Location step." width="3104" height="2024" data-path="images/user-guide/Clone project page.png" />
</Frame>

The clone flow walks you through the same wizard as creating a project, prefilled with the source project's values. Adjust anything that should differ in the clone — location, calculation type, areas — and finish the wizard to save the new project. The original is unchanged.

## Delete a project

<Frame caption="Delete Project highlighted in the Project menu">
  <img src="https://mintcdn.com/real-timelca/L5q2mRvRVkE5w_vw/images/user-guide/Project%20menu%20-%20Delete%20highlighted.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=L5q2mRvRVkE5w_vw&q=85&s=a725b49d26c8c3913af7bc1b6fc4384f" alt="Project menu with Delete Project hovered." width="3104" height="2024" data-path="images/user-guide/Project menu - Delete highlighted.png" />
</Frame>

<Warning>
  Deletion is permanent. The project, its mappings, and its reports cannot be recovered. Clone first if you want a backup.
</Warning>

To delete a project:

1. Open the **Project** menu and choose **Delete Project**.
2. In the confirmation modal, type the exact project name shown in bold above the input field.
3. Click **Delete project** to confirm. Use **Cancel** or the **×** to abort.

<Frame caption="Delete confirmation modal">
  <img src="https://mintcdn.com/real-timelca/L5q2mRvRVkE5w_vw/images/user-guide/Delete%20project%20modal.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=L5q2mRvRVkE5w_vw&q=85&s=dbbd153d1e97b187919c4f6a3a20344f" alt="Delete Project modal asking you to type NTI New Headquarter to confirm." width="3104" height="2024" data-path="images/user-guide/Delete project modal.png" />
</Frame>

The **Delete project** button stays disabled until the typed name matches exactly — this is the safeguard that prevents accidental deletions.
